Six months ago, tokenized stocks were mostly a crypto-native curiosity. Now they're a $9.22 billion-a-month market, and the access points have multiplied fast enough that this is worth paying attention to even if you've never touched DeFi.
Here's the basic mechanic: an issuer holds real shares with a regulated custodian, then mints tokens backed one-to-one against them. You end up holding a token that tracks the stock's price, tradeable 24/7, settling in seconds instead of a business day, and usable inside other crypto applications as collateral. What you don't get in most products is shareholder-of-record status: no voting rights, and your position depends on the issuer staying solvent.
Solana carries about 95% of the volume today, and the moment that made people pay attention was Securitize tokenizing $295 million of its own stock on Solana the same day it debuted on the NYSE.
The part that matters closer to home: this isn't locked inside one obscure platform anymore. Where this goes next matters more than where it is today. Moody's now rates tokenized assets, governments are exploring tokenizing bonds, and forecasts put the broader tokenized asset market in the trillions by the early 2030s. The direction is settled even if the exact numbers aren't: tokenized stocks are becoming a standard feature of crypto infrastructure, and platforms like Robinhood Chain are where that access is landing first.
